Food Composting Pilot Underway in Suburban Chicago

A section of Barrington, Ill., is the site of a pilot project that could lead to Illinois’ first curbside food waste collection and composting program, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune [3]. The project is slated to run through November and is a joint effort of Barrington officials [4], the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County [5] and Groot Industries [6], private firm contracted to collect waste in the community.

Fox Point is the neighborhood in which the Barrington project is being conducted. For more information on the pilot project, visit [7].
