Unifi Expanding its North Carolina Recycling Facility

Unifi Inc. is expanding its Repreve Recycling Center in Yadkinville, N.C.

The facility will increase its recycling capacity to 72 million pounds annually from 42 million pounds, the Greensboro, N.C.-based company said in a news release.

The company invested $5 million in capital expenditures with the plant.

Unifi said it is expanding the facility because of demand from new customer adoptions with companies such as Ford Motor Co., The North Face, Nike, Volcom and Patagonia.

The Repreve products, using fiber made from recycled materials such as plastic bottles, are a strategic focus for the company.

The expansion adds 10 jobs.
