Moore Recycling Associates President Stays Positive about Plastic Recycling

The plastic recycling markets have taken a hit thanks to low commodity pricing, but Moore Recycling Associates Inc. President Patty Moore is confident that plastics recycling will remain a key cog in waste and recycling strategies.

At the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. conference in Las Vegas, Moore spoke about how recycled resin is so much more than its cost compared to virgin resin. For example, she discussed how recycled resin can help reduce carbon emissions and marine debris.

Despite challenges that face plastic recycling markets due to low commodity pricing, Patty Moore remains optimistic.

That’s because the decision to use recycled resin is not just about its cost compared to virgin resin, said the president of Moore Recycling Associates Inc., a plastics recycling consulting firm.

“I remain very confident that recycling will continue to play a major role in our waste management and recycling strategies and in our sustainable materials management strategies,” Moore said at the recent plastics summit at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. conference in Las Vegas.
