American Legion Auxiliary, the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization, is transforming plastic bags into sleeping mats for homeless veterans, ultimately diverting waste from landfill and doing a good deed.
Each mat is made from 900 bags and takes approximately 60 hours to make. To date, 56 sleeping mats have been made and the organization is always accepting plastic bag donations to create more mats.
