Republic Names Maruster Chief Operating Officer

Republic Services Inc. has named Robert Maruster as executive vice president, chief operating officer.

The Phoenix-based Republic said Maruster, 42, would be responsible for the firm’s field operations; safety and environmental compliance, operations support; and fleet management. He joins Republic June 9 and reports to Don Slager, Republic president and CEO, according to a news release.

Maruster is joining Republic from JetBlue Airways Corp., where he was the airline's executive vice president and chief operating officer since 2009. He previously worked at Delta Air Lines. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Auburn University and a master of business administration from Emory University.

"We are delighted that Rob will be joining the Republic team,” Slager said. “He is an extremely talented operations executive with an expertise in driving operational excellence within complex customer-centric organizations.”
