The fate of the Rumpke Sanitary Landfill in Colerain Township is now in the hands of a judge.
Judge Lee Hildebrandt has heard the closing arguments in the case of Rumpke vs. Colerain Township Trustees, and it will likely take up to two months for a decision to be announced.
At stake is whether or not Rumpke will be permitted to expand its landfill eastward, which the company says is necessary because the useful life of the existing landfill is coming to an end in 2027.
