WasteExpo Recap

Organized by Primedia Business Exhibitions and sponsored by Waste Age and the Environmental Industry Associations (EIA), Washington, D.C., WasteExpo 2003, held May 20-23 in Las Vegas, drew more than 11,700 attendees, a 2 percent increase from 2001. The show had a 10 percent buyer participation increase, and of the 425 exhibitors, 100 were new this year.

New pavilions on the WasteExpo exhibit floor included truck components and supplies, sponsored by Primedia’s Fleet Owner magazine; consultants; technology/business services; and medical waste.

The EIA, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), Silver Spring, Md., and Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies organized the more than 40 conference sessions, which saw a 69 percent increase.

International attendee participation also increased, with more than 1,100 people representing 59 countries.
