Tucson Solves Recycled Glass Glut

Tucson, Ariz. -- Tucson has announced a plan to use the city's recycled glass to make asphalt, which could save the city $300,000 per year, news sources report. The product, which would be manufactured by Tucson Ready Mix, is called "glassphalt" and substitutes ground-up glass for sand. The glass currently is being sent to Los Angeles, but shipping costs have risen to approximately $80 per ton.
