SWANA to Use Grant Funds for Safety Training

Silver Spring, Md. – The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has awarded The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) a $237,277 grant from its Susan Harwood Institutional Competency grant program. The money will be used to develop training materials and create courses on safety measures around solid waste facilities and in performing solid waste services. The courses will include hazard identification, biological hazards, physical hazards, musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risks and new OSHA standards.
