Sleep Foundation Event Rouses Drowsy Drivers

Washington – The National Sleep Foundation will host a National Summit to Prevent Drowsy Driving on Nov. 20 to 21 at the National Academy of Sciences. Experts on transportation, safety, health and sleep will use the summit to attract attention to drowsy driving, which accounts for approximately 100,000 police-reported crashes per year.

Experts believe data on drowsy driving in the U.S. is not as conclusive as it is in other countries. The summit will also result in a website that will provide updates on research, education and public policy.
