Companies Sue Over Colorado City's Attempt To Take Customers

Grand Junction, Colo. -- The city of Grand Junction, Colo., has notified several local waste services companies that it will institute a new administrative regulation on August 1, whereby the city will become the exclusive provider of waste services to all new residential developments in the city.

Currently, Rocky Mountain Santitation and Monument Refuse Service have planned to file a lawsuit against the city on August 1, contending that the regulation threatens their customer base and will curtail future growth. Allied Waste and Waste Management Inc. are researching the possibility of joining the lawsuit.
