Washington, D.C. -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is accepting proposals for funding for new National Brownfields Assessment Pilot projects and for supplemental assistance for existing ones.
The pilots, each funded up to $200,000 over two years, test assessment models and facilitate coordinated assessment and cleanup efforts at federal, state and local levels.
An additional $50,000 may be awarded to assess the contamination of a Brownfields site that is or will be used for Greenspace purposes such as for playgrounds, gardens, habitat restoration and trails.
The deadline for submitting proposals is December 10, 2001. Funds will be allocated by April 2002. More information is available at www.epa.gov/brownfields, or by calling (202) 260-7323.
