Phoenix -- New members will be joining electronics recycling company Nxtcycle to participate in its Shared Responsibility Program that was initially launched in August 2002 and has recycled more than 38,500 devices containing cathode ray tubes (CRTs). JVC has joined the effort as a strategy for recycling its obsolete products. The company says it will pay for the recycling of its products collected throughout California and some other additional sites.
The city of Los Angeles also will join the campaign this month and plans to collect electronics from residents at eight collection events and at six permanent drop-off sites. The electronics will then be sent to Nxtcycle for recycling. Panasonic, Sharp and Sony make up the other participating manufacturers.
