DOE Partners with Pepco on Green Power

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a partnership with Pepco Energy Services, a division of Potomac Electric Power Co., to purchase green power for the agency’s headquarter buildings in Washington, D.C., and suburban Germantown, Md.

The deal calls for Pepco to supply 6 million kilowatt-hours annually, or 17 percent of the energy used in the two facilities. Seventy five percent will come from landfill methane gas, and 25 percent will come from wind power.
