DOE Awards $4.6 Million for Alternative Fuels

Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded $4.6 million to 24 states to build local markets for alternative fuels and vehicles in 55 communities that participate in the department’s Clean Cities program.

Grant winners will purchase alternative fuel vehicles, develop refueling stations and infrastructure, and develop alternative fuel vehicle platforms to reduce the country’s dependence on foreign oil and improve air quality.

States include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
