Denver Hopes to Boost Recycling with Weekly Lottery

Denver –- The American Plastics Council is footing the bill for a $100 weekly prize that will be given away at random to single- and multi-family homes that recycle. To qualify for the contest, residents must have their recycling containers placed on the curb by 7 a.m. and materials must be properly sorted according to program guidelines. Winners will receive a $100 check and a bag of recycled-content products, and will be chosen from the city’s 74,000 households that are already signed up for the Denver Recycles collection program, which picks up every two weeks. The year-long program builds on Denver Recycles’ shift to increase plastic container recycling with the All Bottles Campaign as well as the introduction of the Recycle Guys, animated subjects of television and radio public service announcements.
