The board of the Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) has voted to sell the authority’s waste-to-energy plant in Chesapeake, Va., to Wheelabrator Technologies for $150 million, according to a report in The Virginian-Pilot.
“We’re delighted to be selected and look forward to working toward a final contract,” Mark Schwartz, senior manager for business development for Wheelabrator, told The Virginian-Pilot.
SPSA will hold a public hearing on Sept. 23 to take comments about the proposed sale and will then begin to draw up a final contract.
