Illegal drop-offs plague Allied Waste facility in Boise, Idaho

Illegal midnight drop-offs at an Allied Waste collection site in Boise, Idaho have led the company to threaten violators with expensive fines or jail time, according to a report in the Idaho Stateman.

“It’s just like if someone left hazardous chemicals in front of your house,” said Rachele Klein, public relations and recycling manager for Allied Waste. “Some of the chemicals, we don’t even know what they are.” Klein also said most of the drop-offs occur during evenings and weekends and have included everything from paint and pesticides to old tires.

According to the Boise Public Works Department, drop-offs are a violation of city code and can result in a $300 fine or jail time.
