Paris — Onyx, the waste management subsidiary of Paris-based Veolia Environnement, has reached agreements on two new household waste management contracts in the United Kingdom (UK). The Sheffield, England, City Council will sign a five-year extension to the 30-year integrated waste management contract the city has with Onyx. And, Onyx has signed a seven-year contract to collect household waste in a borough of Manchester, England.
In other Onyx news, the firm will open two non-hazardous landfill sites in the UK in 2005. Also, the firm has received authorization to operate an underground hazardous waste disposal facility in the UK.
