Chicago — The holiday season has arrived — and that means more garbage for the solid waste industry. Citing statistics from the Partners for Environmental Progress, a report in the Chicago Sun-Times says that 25 percent more trash is generated in the weeks between Thanksgiving and the end of the year than during any other comparable period. To cut down on the garbage, the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, Ill., has produced a tip sheet that shows how to have a "greener" holiday season, the paper says.
