Southern California Edison, Rosemead, Calif., has issued its new Biomass Standard Contract to help smaller biomass generators contribute to reaching the state’s renewable energy goals. The new contract enables generators with capabilities less than 20 megawatts to sell their power to utility customers.

The new program is expected to accept 250 megawatts of new biomass capacity, according to a press release. It’s also a response to Gov. Schwarzenegger’s request for the industry to find ways to increase the state’s use of renewable biomass resources to generate electricity.
