Scottsdale, Ariz. -- Allied Waste Industries has rolled out several initiatives to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, including sending roll-off trucks to the affected area and establishing an employee relief fund. The company has contributed $1 million to the fund, with CEO John Zillmer personally pledging an additional $100,000. The fund will assist company employees who have been affected by the hurricane. Additionally, Allied Waste is trying to locate all employees in the affected region so it can supply food and housing options. The company has set up a toll-free phone line, (800) 234-2677, to help establish contact with employees in the gulf region.

Allied Waste also has sent roll-off trucks and more than 800 containers to the areas damaged by Hurricane Katrina and plans to increase its resources for cleanup in the coming weeks.
