Allied Waste Reports Second-Quarter Net Loss

Scottsdale, Ariz. — Allied Waste Industries reported a net loss of $15.2 million on $1.36 billion in revenue during second-quarter 2004, compared with a net income of 30.9 million on $1.34 billion in revenue in 2003. During the first six months of 2004, the company posted a net loss of 12.2 million on 2.64 billion in revenue, compared with a net income of 93.1 million on $2.57 billion in revenue during the same period in 2003.

The company has attributed its second-quarter numbers to a rise in operating costs and to debt service.
