Florida Town Victim of Environmental Racism?

There is nary a cloud in sight and the temperature hovers around 80 on a gorgeous October afternoon, yet only six children play at spacious Wedgewood Center park, where the playground equipment is relatively new and in excellent shape.

Desjon Robertson sits on a picnic table and monitors his two kids, 9-year-old Keshawn and 3-year-old Dasani, as they swing by their lonesome. The other four children play off in the distance.

“There’s too many kids out there for it to be deserted like this,” Robertson says. “Parents don’t want kids out here.”
