Casella Gets Tentative State OK for Response Plan for Charlton Homes with Tainted Wells

The state has given Casella Waste Systems conditional approval of its response plan for Charlton homes near the Southbridge landfill with tainted wells.

At a health board meeting Tuesday, consultant Gary E. Magnuson of CMG Environmental reported the state Department of Environmental Protection issued ten conditions on the IRA (immediate response action) plan submitted by Casella Waste Systems in December.

Casella, doing business as Southbridge Recycling & Disposal Park, assumed operations of the Southbridge landfill at 165 Barefoot Road in 2004.
