$5M Sought from State for Landfill Closure

Teton County is rushing to apply for a $5-million grant to offset about half of the cost of closing and capping the Horsethief Canyon Landfill, capitalizing on newly re-approved state funding.

That money could be used to cover the cost of trash excavation currently underway, Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling division chief Heather Overholser discovered.

She then scrambled to pull together an application to submit this month. Commissioners approved the application paperwork Tuesday during their regular meeting.
