Waste & Recycling Association Launches Membership Buying Program

The National Waste & Recycling Association has started a program encouraging members to do business with other members.

The new program, called “Member Buy from Member,” is intended to promote such transactions, the Washington-based association said in a news release.

“Our members conduct billions of dollars’ worth of business every year,” said Jonathan Sper, director of membership, marketing and business development for the National Waste & Recycling Association (Waste & Recycling). “Most of what they purchase can be provided by other Waste & Recycling member companies. The ‘Member Buy from Member’ program is a way to help members know about the products and services that other members can provide and is also an opportunity to support the association.”

There are four parts to the program:

  • Association members announce their interest in doing business with other members. The association will provide promotional tools so members can inform their customers and vendors about the prospects.
  • Development of member-only discounts, promotions and purchase programs. The association will promote this as well.
  • Events to promote supplier-hauler business. The association plans online events and webinars such as “speed dating” events.
  • Incentives for members and non-members. For example, the association will initiate awards for members that conduct the most business with other members.

Suppliers and manufacturer members will benefit because their company names and product information will promoted directly to member company decision makers, Sper said.
