Ohio Landfill Reaches Settlement Regarding Operational Violations

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reached a settlement with the Kimble Sanitary Landfill regarding a series of operational violations that occurred from January 2005 to March 2009. The landfill, located in Tuscarawas County, has agreed to pay the agency a $54,629 fine.

According to the Ohio EPA, the violations included allowing methane to leak the final cover, a failure to apply a sufficient cover over the waste, a failure to repair leachate outbreaks and insufficient odor control. The landfill began to improve its operations in April of last year, the Ohio EPA says.
