Lithium Exploration May Buy Waste Disposal Operation

Lithium Exploration Group Inc. is negotiating to buy a waste disposal facility.

The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Lithium said in a news release it is in discussions to acquire a third facility for the company. It is in the process of buying the first two facilities, which should be completed in October and November, respectively.

The company’s focus is on solid and liquid waste materials produced by the oil and gas industry in exploration, production and refining.

The company entered the waste disposal business in Canada as part of its strategy to be a smaller institutional buyer of regional facilities. CEO Alex Walsh said the company hopes to purchase an additional five to seven disposal operations in the first half of 2014.
