Waste Industries to Sponsor 2017 EREF Fall Classic & Networking Event

Waste Industries is sponsoring the 2017 Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) Fall Classic & Networking Event, which will be held on Thursday, September 28, at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C. The event will tee off with a putting contest and networking reception on Wednesday, September 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This year’s golf tournament will be held on two courses with play beginning on Thursday, September 28, following a breakfast buffet at 6:30 a.m. Play on Course 1 will begin at 8:30 a.m., and play on Course 5 will begin at 8:45 a.m. The tournament will conclude with an Awards Luncheon at 2:00 p.m.

The format for the golf tournament will be Four-Person Scramble with a Shotgun Start. Players on the first and second place teams will receive trophies and a framed team photo. Hole-in-one prizes will be given at all par 3s, including the chance to win $50,000 cash. There will also be other prize-winning opportunities, including the chance to win a $10,000 putting contest.

In addition to the golf tournament, attendees have the chance to participate in the 3rd Annual Fall Classic Poker Tournament, which will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, at The Fair Barn in Pinehurst, located just 1 mile from the Pinehurst Resort.  

Tournament format is Texas Hold ‘Em and poker registration includes food, drinks and a player's seat with chips. Poker chips have no cash value. A $500 donation is encouraged. Poker spectators are welcome, but EREF requests that they register free of charge. Participation in the EREF Fall Classic Golf Tournament is not required to participate in the Poker Tournament.

All proceeds from the tournaments will support EREF’s mission to fund and direct scientific research and educational initiatives to establish sustainable waste management practices.
