Zykan, Past Association President, Dies

Donald Zykan, past president of the National Solid Wastes Management Association, Washington, D.C., died of cancer March 1 in North St. Louis County, Mo. He was 66.

Zykan worked in his father's business, Zykan Brothers Solid Waste Disposal, St. Louis, eventually selling it in 1986.

From 1971 to 1991, Zykan, was a member of the National Solid Wastes Management Association and served as its president from 1989 to 1990.

He was a member of the Florissant Rotary Club, the Florissant Sportsmen Club and the St. Ferdinand Lions Club. He also was past president and a member of the Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce. In 1978, he received the St. Louis County League of Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Person of the Year award.

Survivors include his wife, Grace, five children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several other family members and friends.
