  • Waste Connections Inc., Folsom, Calif., has signed acquisition agreements with three collection companies and expects the additions, estimated at $32 million, to be completed in its second quarter.

  • R.W. Beck Inc., Seattle, has acquired Reed, Stowe & Yanke, a consulting firm for the solid waste industry.

  • EPG Companies Inc., Maple Grove, Minn., purchased NBT Inc., St. Louis Park, Minn. NBT will operate as a separate division of EPG.

  • Agronix Inc., Vancouver, British Columbia, has signed two letters of intent to acquire two waste processing companies operating in British Columbia and Ireland.

  • Stedman, Louisville, Ky., has formed Innovative Processing Solutions, Aurora, Ind., a new affiliate that will specialize in enhancing bulk material-handling systems.

  • Recycled Plastic Products (RPP), Englewood, Colo., is joining King County, Wash., in its LinkUp program intended to encourage businesses to used recycled material.

  • Announcements

  • Waste Management Inc., Houston, has added Electronicycle Inc., Gardner, Mass., to the Recycle America Alliance. The company will provide electronics recycling.

  • Advanced Disposal Services, Jacksonville, Fla., received a $52 million private equity investment from PNC Equity Partners, New York Life Capital Partners, BB&T Capital Partners and Rock Creek Partners. The company also expanded its credit facility to $35 million.

  • Oakleaf Waste Management is being included in INC magazine's INC 500 list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.

  • Stericycle Inc., Lake Forest, Ill., is installing a medical waste treatment facility in Hokkaido, Japan.

  • Safety Vision, Houston, has celebrated its 10-year anniversary.

  • Heil Environmental Industries, Chattanooga, Tenn., has invested in 3-D robot animation/simulation software.

  • Mack Canada Inc., Mississauga, Ontario, has delivered the first vision Day Cab model sold in Canada to an owner-operator based in Winnipeg.

  • WENDT Corp., Tonawanda, N.Y., has sold its first Eldan Scandinavian Recycling E-4000t scrap tire recycling system to the Maryland Environmental Service (MES), which started operations in January 2003.

  • Omaha Paper Stock installed a Bollegraaf HBC 60 F Baler from Van Dyk Baler Corp., Stamford, Conn., in its Grand Island, Neb., facility in 2001 and has recently replaced an IPS baler at their Cincinnati facility with a Bollegraaf HBC 80.

  • Madison, Wis.-based engineering firm RMT Inc. has signed a contract with Antioch, Ill., Community High School Board of Education to use landfill gas from a nearby landfill as power at Antioch High School.

  • In a new products survey [March 2003, page 54], Waste Age incorrectly identified the Caterpillar 966 G Series II Wheel Loader as the 666G. Waste Age regrets the error.

  • Facility Expansions

  • Bandit Industries Inc., Remus, Mich., is completing a $1.3 million expansion that will accommodate construction of the 90,000 pound model 5680 and 70,000 pound model 4680 Beast Recyclers.

  • GreenMan Technologies Inc., Lynnfield, Mass., invested $1.5 million in new equipment for its Des Moines, Iowa, tire processing facility.

  • Recycled Plastic Products (RPP), Bluffdale, Utah, has upgraded its facility to now process appoximately 12 tons of waste plastic per day.

  • New Offices

  • RJM, Easley, S.C., will open a third plant in Tempe, Ariz.

  • Velbert, Germany-based recycling and environmental equipment manufacturer Doppstadt opened its U.S. offices in Haslett, Mich.

  • HSS RentX, Denver, has opened two tool and equipment rental branches in Longview, Texas, and Oakland, Calif.

  • Stericycle Inc., Lake Forest, Ill., has amended its senior secured credit facility with a group of lenders led by Bank of America to increase its borrowing capacity by $51 million.

  • GreenMan Technologies, a Lynnfield, Mass.-based scrap tire marketer and processor, has announced annual revenues are up 26 percent, and annual net income is up 27 percent from Sept. 30, 2001.
