WORLD WASTES STAFF

New York - Crowded landfills were on the minds of New York's sanitation officials when they mandated offices to separate and recycle of-fice paper. Thanks to the efforts of Vibro, a Brooklyn-based paper recycling firm, some local charities also will benefit from the city-wide recycling efforts of office workers, tenants and building management companies.

Last year, nearly $40,000 was donated to the Boy Scouts, the Ju-venile Diabetes Foundation and the Children's Aid Society. Vibro made this contribution based on revenue from the volumes of paper it collected from the city's office buildings.

"Vibro felt that a good way to educate tenants and office workers a-bout separating trash and waste paper would be to institute support for charitable causes," said John A. Vitale, the company's president. "The combination of recycling and helping kids has been very successful for building management companies who must implement office recycling."

The program will continue for another year, according to company officials. Vibro reportedly collects and processes 150 tons of waste paper per day.

Agreement Eastern Environmental Services Inc. in Drums, Pa., has finalized an agreement to permit, construct and operate a municipal solid waste landfill in Illinois.

Fiscal Republic Waste Industries Inc., Atlanta, has authorized the sale of 3 million shares of common stock at $13.25 per share to Allen & Co. in a private placement transaction. The company also will issue 1 million shares each to H. Wayne Huizenga and an associate at $13.25 per share.

Grants The California Integrated Waste Management Board, Sacramento, Calif., ap-proved funding for the cleanup of the Booker waste tire site in Fresno County, the Hall waste tire site in Los Angeles County, the Round Valley illegal dumping sites in Mendocino County and an abandoned steel mill site in Alameda County.

The Western Wisconsin Re-cycling Association in Eau Claire, Wis., has received a $216,380 grant from the state Recycling Market Development Board to establish three regional consolidation points for processing and marketing re-cyclables.

Installation NKK Corp., Tok-yo, has installed two, 18-ton electric-resistance ash melting furnaces with 100-tons-per-day stoker-type incinerators in a suburban plant.

Joint Venture Galbreath Inc., Winamac, Ind., has joined with Motocargadores Seaman S.A.C.V. and GH Maquinaira y Equipo S.A. de C.V., to form Galbreath Mexico S.A. de C.V.
