In an attempt to up Naples, Fla.'s beauty quotient, the City Council has passed an ordinance requiring all waste containers at businesses and condos in the city to be fully enclosed and not visible from the road.

According to a story in the Naples Daily News, the city already had in place a Trash Enclosure Ordinance, but the decades-old measure did not apply to garbage containers already in place and only addressed new businesses or condos.

Approved enclosures include wood, plastic-coated cyclone fences with slats, concrete, brick, stone or shrubbery.

The paper says the new rule was proposed after a councilman received complaints from residents following Hurricane Wilma, which destroyed bushes hiding a dumpster that was not fully enclosed.

The ordinance is scheduled to take effect Oct. 1.
