Everyone knows orlando is home to the Happiest Place on Earth. Loathe to play second fiddle, Sarasota County, Fla., has thrown open its landfill, recycling plants and hazardous chemical collection center for free public tours. The offerings have proved so popular, the county has been forced to add 22 more tours this fall and still can't keep up with the requests for reservations.
There's no gift shop, but tourists are encouraged to conclude their visit with a stop at the Re-Uz-It Store, where leftover household products and paint are offered for free to the public. Can costumed mascots and novelty hats made from recycled products be far behind?
