BABIES CAN BE PRECOCIOUS. But one wasn't so cute to an English police officer who handed out a fine after seeing a baby imitating adult behavior — by littering. Lee Nightingale had placed an empty soda can in his son, Elliot's, stroller, and the 16-month-old playfully tossed it into a bush. The father said he tried to retrieve the can, but the bush was thorny, and he could not reach it. A litter enforcement officer who saw the baby's act gave a citation to the dad. Little Elliot obviously did not meet the minimum age of 10 to receive the 50-pound fine. Nightingale is currently unemployed, so police officers might have to give him a time-out in the corner if he fails to pay the fine.
