Just a week after being sentenced on corruption charges, former Rizzo Environmental Services CEO Chuck Rizzo has been granted permission to briefly leave jail to address family issues. U.S. District Judge Robert Cleland granted the request so that Rizzo could plan school options for his cognitively disabled son, ease the transition to a new school for another son and assist his family in financially preparing for his more than five-year absence.

Rizzo has been ordered to surrender at an undisclosed federal prison on an undisclosed date, and his travel during this brief release is restricted to the eastern district of Michigan.
