Bear Finds Comfort at a Dump in Manitoba, Canada

Photos of a black bear lounging on a couch at a dump in Manitoba, Canada, are going viral. The sighting actually happened last spring, but Mandy Stantic recently shared the photos with CBC News for the world to see.

It’s not uncommon for bear sightings to happen at dumps in Canada, but it’s not very often that you see a bear relaxing on a couch like a human being.

CBC News has more information:

Does a bear sit in the woods? Maybe not, but photographs received by CBC News indicate they do sit at the garbage dump.

Mandy Stantic said she was working as a nurse in the northern Manitoba community of Lac Brochet last spring when she snapped several pictures of a black bear sitting cozily on a discarded sofa.

As people do in many rural and northern Manitoba communities, the Stantics took their daughter for a "northern safari" to the dump to watch the bears.

But this trip was different.
