St. Louis County Will Pay $5.8M to Settle Haulers' Lawsuit

A long-running lawsuit pitting three waste haulers against St. Louis County drew to a close on Friday when the county agreed to pay the haulers $5.8 million to settle their claims.

The amount was about $50,000 less than county Circuit Judge Barbara Wallace had awarded the three companies — Waste Management of Missouri; American Eagle Waste Industries; and Meridian Waste Services — in 2013.

The county had appealed the awards.
