ÉEQ to Test New Glass Processing Equipment at Five Canadian Sorting Centers

The centers will work toward finding a solution for recycling 100 percent of the glass collected.

Five Canadian sorting centers will participate in Éco Entreprises Québec’s (ÉEQ) Innovative Glass Works Plan, a series of pilot projects that will test cutting-edge cleaning and sorting equipment for glass collected through curbside recycling in Québec, Canada. With this plan, the centers will work toward finding a solution for recycling 100 percent of the glass collected.

The centers, which include EBI Environnement Inc., Tricentris, tri, transformation, sensibilisation, La Régie intermunicipale de traitement des matières résiduelles de la Gaspésie, Récupération Frontenac and Centre de tri de Québec, will have the equipment installed during winter 2017.

To accurately measure the success of the plan, ÉEQ will work hand-in-hand with RECYC-QUÉBEC to create a follow-up committee, which will choose and monitor performance indicators to ensure coherence between the pilot projects’ main objectives.
