Pittsburgh Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen Donates Truck to 412 Food Rescue

The new truck will help the group safely collect and transport more perishable food throughout the country.

Andrew McCutchen, center fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, has donated a new truck to 412 Food Rescue, a group that fights hunger and promotes sustainability by redirecting viable food from going to waste and directly distributing to those who are hungry.

The new truck can hold up to six pallets of food, and it will help the group safely collect and transport more perishable food throughout the country.

WTAE Pittsburgh's Action News 4 has more information:

412 Food Rescue will cut the ribbon on a new truck, donated by Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen, to help the group rescue food that would otherwise get wasted and instead donate it directly to organizations and communities fighting hunger.

The ribbon cutting will take place Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at 420 Braddock Avenue. It will be a festive block party-like event with the street closed at the Braddock Free Store.
