New Recycling Robot App Aims to Make Recycling Easier in Summit County, Colo.

The High Country Conservation Center (HC3) has officially launched “Rocky the Recycling Robot”–a simple-to-use online tool that will help Summit County, Colo., residents and visitors figure out if a material can be recycled, composted or disposed of anywhere in the county.

If a resident is not sure how to properly dispose of something, Rocky the Robot is very simple to use. Residents can visit the center’s website, enter their item and the robot will compute the answer on how to recycle it locally. From aluminum cans to Ziploc bags, this intuitive search tool does it all. Even if the item isn’t listed, residents can suggest it as a new item and Rocky will notify HC3 to add it to the database. The robot also shares upcoming events that can remind residents via email or Twitter. For folks who prefer a more old-school approach, HC3 is also happy to answer any questions through its recycling hotline at 970-668-5703.

“We are really excited to help make recycling easier for both locals and visitors,” said HC3 Executive Director Jennifer Schenk in a statement. “The Recycling Robot app allows people to get immediate answers to recycling questions.”
