A $7 Million Expansion Expected to Triple Compost Facilities Production

With a $7 million expansion, Nanaimo Organic Waste is now the largest composting facility on Vancouver Island. The development is hoped to triple the facilities production rates.

The Nanaimo Organic Waste facility in Duke Point has received a seven-million-dollar expansion to better help turn organic waste into compost. Part of the expansion is a compost tunnel system, a process developed in the Netherlands created to speed up the composting process. The development is hoped to triple the compost facilities production capacity per year.

 

With the expansion, Nanaimo Organic Waste is now the largest composting facility on Vancouver Island.
