Tiverton Says Landfill Likely to Close Earlier Than Previously Predicted

Town trash, which once migrated to Fall River, has stayed closer to home since Fall River began charging for its trash bags.

As a result, Tiverton’s landfill will probably close earlier than previously estimated, Public Works Director Stephen Berlucchi told the Town Council on Monday.

Berlucchi and Timothy Phies, an engineer with Pare Corp., the town’s trash consultant, presented a report to the Council, estimating the town landfill off Main Road will be full by the end of 2016 or early 2017.
