Forest Lawn Landfill in Three Oaks, Mich., to Close Down

Republic Services’ Forest Lawn Landfill in Three Oaks, Mich., will stop collecting trash on January 31. Shortly after the waste drop-offs end, construction will begin on capping the last of the site’s active cells, which is expected to take about a year.

Once the site is completely closed, it will be monitored by contractors and possibly sold for other uses.

Things are about to get a lot quieter at Forest Lawn Landfill in Three Oaks Township.

Operations Supervisor Seth Siergey said the facility’s last day of accepting refuse is 10 days away.

“We’ll stop taking in trash on the last day of the month, which is Tuesday the 31st,” he said this week.
