Radioactivity Testing to Begin at West Lake, Bridgeton Landfills

Radioactive tests are set to begin Monday at the West Lake and Bridgeton landfills. The Environmental Protection Agency approved a testing plan to understand the scope of radioactive contamination at the landfills in Bridgeton. According to The St. Louis Post- Dispatch, West Lake Landfill was contaminated 40 years ago after a contractor for a uranium processing company illegally dumped waste there. The test will also look for contamination in part of the adjacent Bridgeton Landfill.
