Light Load

Waste Management began a one-year pilot program offering curbside recycling of compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to residents of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.

The Houston-based company mails specially designed containers that can hold up to 13 CFLs to residents. When a container is full, a resident can place it at the curb and call Waste Management to schedule pickup.

"This is just one more thing we can cross off the list of hard-to-dispose items," said Vickie Wippel, community relations manager at Waste Management, in a press release.
